Master of all he surveys

Well, I survived the weekend, how was yours? Mighty Tom came and left. We even had some moments of family fun! As we grew up together and have quite a bit the same sense of humor.

MT is obviously the lord and master of his family. In fact he's lord and master of all he surveys, including OUR apartment! His sweet little Asian-born wife hustles to get him whatever he wants, the instant he wants it. They are physically affectionate in public too, which would be cute and endearing if she didn't also call him "Daddy" which totally lands it into the realm of creepy, not sweet!

She asks him rather stupid questions, like when we were watching a movie and they had greyhound racing she asked, "Are those greyhounds, Daddy?" so he had to explain it to her. She's been here since she was a teenager and is very intelligent, holds an impressive job. She IS a really sweet person although she barely says a word except to MT and has an accent so it usually takes me a few hours before I can really understand her well again. My Mom thinks she's the (second) most wonderful person ever and while she may be right about that, I get really tired of hearing about it!

The movie(s) we were watching were of the Ballykissangel series. Have you ever watched it/them? Very appropriate for St Patrick's Day!

Well, today is a Monday once again. Hope yours turns out to be a good day for you!

Ahh, I feel the same way about my siblings and how they're always so bloody great. But then I hear from one of them that my Mum does the same to them about me so it all balances out in the end.

Maybe your Mum does the same....?

Nope, Ms. Mac. I wish! I'm the blacksheep of the family and they all talk badly about me when I'm not there. I know because sometimes they tell me what the other family member said about me--and it's not good.

I found Ballykissangel to be too tame after watching Father Ted.

I loved Bally kissangle and Father Ted. Both wonderful series.

I also find the "Daddy" thing a bit creepy.

My Granny did the sibling rivalrey thing too. Drove her children apart. I hope that you manage to over come it all.

Yikes! That was alot to digest about the dragon lady. It's too bad parents do to their children what you described regarding MT. Being an only child sure simplified my life. Not perfect though...I don't seem to measure up to my mother's expectations. My father on the other hand is easy going and accepts me for the way I am and is proud of me. My mother has issues of her own middle sibling spot in the lineup that she cranks on frequently. But then again...when my parents are gone...that's it for me...I'll not have anyone but my two sons and they are 14 years apart...and basically of the "only child" syndrome too. It's always something.
