Retreating Tonight and Tomorrow
Hey, it’s off to work and then to the yoga retreat. And I get a flu shot this morning. Hope it doesn’t make me sick. Two people from work and their spouses and some friends of my Mom have gotten sick from this flu shot, for some reason. I’m normally a very healthy person, almost never sick. But now that I’ve bragged about it…..nah! I never used to get a flu shot, in fact my first was in November of 2002 because I was living in a dormitory-type place and it was recommended. The following year I also got one, and last year they ran out of vaccine for everyone but older people and those who would be vulnerable. So, some questions for today (but not as fun as a quizzy thing!)
1. Do you get the flu shot?
2. Has it ever made you sick?
A one-night stay isn’t long enough to pack my suitcase, especially since I’m just wearing jeans. But maybe a tote to hold a change of clothing, toothbrush and all and the little fuzzy green blanket with a panda in the corner. Oh, and also some slippers to keep my feet warm.

Yikes! My life is a 5.4...I'm not too happy with THAT score!
I got a flu shot this year and I DID get sick from it. I didn't get the flu but the day after I got the shot, I was sick to my stomach and I had a horrible headache! Good luck getting yours...hope you don't get sick!

I've been getting the shot for years now. I started because the classroom is a germ trap, and I continue because it seems wise. I have never really been sick from the shot, but I have felt a trifle affected a few times. Not the last few times, however.

As for the flu shot, nope I avoid needles as much as I can.
It's bad enough when I have to get blood work, which is often enough.
And that tetanus shot back in July. Ouch.
I did get the flu shot once; a few years ago. I did get the flu (all down and out vomiting kind) about a day and a half later. The nurse told me that I must have had the flu bug already because "the flu shot doesn't do anything for bugs you already have in your system for up to 2 weeks prior to the shot". The problem I have with that story is that I hadn't had the flu in about 15 years, so I think she was just pulling my leg...:)

I got the flu shot one year. I was sick as heck through Christmas with the flu. Never again..
Once when I was in the Army, they gave us all flu shots and 90 - 95% of the battalion got sick. They denied there was anything the matter, just got onto us for being such hypochondriacs. I haven't bothered with them ever since, and I've been fine.
My lovely husband got his flu shot today! It must be goiong around! ;-)

I have just had a flu jab & feel terrible! I had one for the first time 2 years ago & had a stinking cold for 2 weeks after, last year I had one & was fine. This one I had on Tuesday & my arm has only just stopped hurting & I now have a stinky cold & sore throat.
I get a flu shot every year (the wife is a teacher and imports germs by the pailful). So far I've never have been sick from it. This may have a lot to do with having the immune system of a superhero, but who's to know for sure. My arm's been sore a time or two, but no ailing.

I don't get flu shots A) because I'm generally very healthy, and B)I have a fear of over vacination/over medication. I figure I will take my chances.
YOur retreat sounds good. I hope you enjoy yourself.
I have not had a flu jab/shopt but I have been told that as now work with children that I could probably get one if there is enough after the sick and elderly etc have had thiers. However I have some sort of bug right now that has left me without a voice!! I have been teaching for two days now without a voice! ANyway I hope that when I fight this that I will ahve built my own immunity up. Well that is the idea anyway.... Have a great retreat
At the risk of sounding like a wuss, I hate needles. So, no flu shot for me. But then, I haven't had the Flu in years. All my friends who get the shot catch it. I just avoid morons in the grocery line who sneeze without covering their face by going to the end of the line with my hand over my nose!!!
Don't know if this is right or not, but I read this year that the shot is more for preventing you from spreading the flu, not preventing you from contracting it. FWIW... I did get sick one year that I got it. I haven't gotten it for the past couple of years because of the "shortage" and not feeling I needed it badly enough.

Flu shot is popular here, although i don't get one. You have a good life PBS :) enjoy your yoga, i will remain jealous of course..make sure you smuggle some chocolate in!
Life...7.9 And I get a shot every year because of an immune system that is overactive...bleh! Hope your Yoga retreat is absolutely fabulous! Oh...and I never get ill effects from the shots...lucky me.

I've never had a flu shot, but my husband gets them every year. It did make him sick one year, but only that one time.
Started taking the quiz but it's just too damn long. And I got paranoid it was being so specific I'd wind up with some new kooky spam.
